Back to school already?stress school

Are you struggling to get your family into the back-to-school mode? It can be tough to shake your summer rhythm, but it’s not impossible. Make a few changes to improve your schedule and set the tone for the rest of the school year.

Reset your body’s clock

Sleep schedules contribute greatly to making the transition back to school difficult. Your children are used to staying up late, sleeping in, and having laid-back days. The best way to get back on track is to set firm bedtimes and wake-up times. Set a sleep schedule that works for your family and stick with it. It may take a few weeks, but it’s worth it!

Prep the night before

Weekday mornings are hectic, but you can slow them down by prepping the night before. Pack lunches and backpacks, finish homework, and choose outfits for the next day. This way all you have to worry about in the morning is getting out the door.

Get the kids excited to wake up

Getting your kids out of bed in the morning is half the battle. Make it easier on yourself by giving them an exciting reason to jump out of bed. Prepare their favorite breakfast, let them watch their favorite TV show while getting ready, or make getting ready a fun game.

Have a morning schedule

Children, especially young children, do very well on a schedule. Plan a morning schedule that works for your family. The schedule should be easy for your children to remember and follow, such as wake up, get dressed, eat breakfast, brush teeth, and leave for school. Eventually the routine will become natural and your mornings will run smoothly.

Adjust your workout schedule to fit new routines

With the new schedule change you make for your kids and family, don’t forget bout yourself!  Don’t let your workouts suffer by the change – just find a new window of opportunity that works best for you.  Try going to be earlier with your kids schedule and get up a little earlier to get a workout in before they need to get up.  Pressed for time and can’t get to the gym with them still sleeping? Try one of the new short, but intense workouts from home.  Click here for options and look for P90X3, 21 Day Fix, T25 or less intense, but still effective P90.
