Day 3 of the 5 Day Fast Track Fitness & Diet Plan

You know what you want – you know where you are – what do you need to get there? The right program and plan for YOU – let’s talk about what you like and what you need to ensure you have the essentials for success

Having the right Program & Plan 

What has worked in the past – what has not worked – what kind of exercise do you like? Do you want to lose weight? Gain strength? Both?  All these questions need answers in order to pick the right program and define the right plan.  Another good question to ask is how easily do you get bored with a program and is variety one of the reasons you have quit in the past – if this sounds like you, you may want to consider getting more than one program and doing hybrid routines as part of your plan.

Another reason many people end up quitting their fitness programs is they fail to schedule and prioritize.  If you signed up for a Team Beachbody Club membership yesterday, you can use the Supergym feature to schedule and track your workouts.  In addition, there are workout worksheets to track the number of reps and amount of weight you used each time. It is really important to keep this up so that you can see your progress as you get stronger and more fit.  If you can’t find the worksheets – contact me and I’ll get you the direct links or send you the specific files you need.

Take Action!

1)      Think about your goals and choose a fitness program that supports those goals AND is something you will stick to (if you don’t like it you won’t do it!!)

  1. If you want to lose weight – look for something with more cardio
  2. If you want to gain strength – look for something that focuses on weight training
  3. Choose what you like to do! If you like to dance – you may want something that has upbeat music and choreographed moves. If you like basic gym or sports moves – look for something more basic and less complicated.
  4. Have issues with knees or joints – look for low impact – that doesn’t have to mean low intensity!

2)      Determine your motivators

  1. Do you like group exercise? You may want to join a gym and take classes
  2. Do you need the flexibility of working out at home? You may want a full DVD fitness program that provides you all the variety with the convenience of doing on your schedule

3)      Choose a program!

4)      Get what you need to get started – if you didn’t write some of these tasks as part of the Action Steps – you’ll want to – get the right clothes/shoes for working out comfortably, get the equipment you’ll need for an at-home program (most come with bands/tubes), you may want to add some free weights, chin-up bar, and floor mat

5)      Schedule your workouts – you have to make time for this – do it at a time of day when you are most likely not going to have obstacles to prevent you getting it done. Morning is best – even if you’re not a morning person!  Couple of reasons – fewer excuses and it raises your metabolism early and keeps you burning all day – bonus!
