Sneak in a workoutoffice workout

In a perfect world, we would all have at least an hour a day to devote to fitness. Yet many of us are already challenged to fit work, school, and family into the 24 hours we have. Stop stressing! Here are some easy ways to sneak a workout into your super busy schedule:

  • Turn your commute into a workout—Bike to work, get off your bus or train a few stops earlier, or park the car farther away to extend your walking time.
  • Set your alarm early—That way you can cross your workout off your “to do” list ASAP! If you have a hard time getting out of bed early, wear your workout clothes to bed to save time in the morning.
  • Sneak in a lunch break workout—Make healthy use of your lunch break by hitting the gym or going for a walk.
  • Work out at work—Sit on a stability ball to strengthen your core or take a walk around your office  campus or start a fitness challenge with your colleagues!
  • Multitask on the treadmill—Hop on a treadmill holding a three- to five-pound dumbbell in each hand, and set the speed to a brisk walk. Alternate doing one-minute sets of shoulder, bicep, and triceps workouts as you walk.
  • Make it a date—Set up a workout date with your partner to keep both of you fit. If you’re single, invite your friends to try a new workout instead of hitting happy hour.
  • Don’t just wait in line—All the time we spend waiting in line adds up, so why not sneak in a workout while you’re there? Try doing lunges, toe raises, and squats in the checkout line. People might look at you like you’re silly, but who cares?
  • Don’t be a couch potato—Do push-ups, crunches, jumping jacks, and squats while watching your favorite TV show. Here are some examples of exercises that don’t require a gym.
  • Power up your stair climbs—Instead of walking leisurely up a flight of stairs, gradually increase your speed and the number of stairs you climb in one minute.
